We went to Pierre, SD yesterday. I went to the local farmers’ market and found some peaches, tomatoes, squash and cantaloupe. I like to buy from the locals if possible and help support other farmers. We stopped at Wal-mart later for a few items and were provided with a good laugh, the sign above the eggs said:
Attn: Wal-mart shoppers
due to homecoming week
you must be 18 to purchase eggs.
We moved all the equipment to the field last night and started harvesting corn today. There are so many pheasants and deer on the sides of the road around here. They are hard to see with all the dust on the roads. It has been such a dry summer a lot of the crops don’t look very good. The corn cobs fall of the stalks if you barely touch them.
Today it was very windy we had corn stalks flying at us in the campground. The kids were not able to play outside due to the wind so everyone is very rambunctious.
I think the next picture is a school in Harrold, SD. The left side above the door says boys entrance and the right is the girls entrance.
I have made freezer corn, several new recipes of pickles, relishes, crab apple jelly,
